Summer Production Manager

$21 per hour/28 hours per week

 

The Summer Production Manager will assist the Producer/Program Director in the production of NUTV’s summer productions. The specific responsibilities of this position will be to develop new programming for NUTV and engage NUTV production volunteers in a positive, encouraging manner, under the supervision of the Producer/Program Director. The Summer Production Manager will be tasked with leading volunteers to report, shoot and edit stories, and performing those roles as required.

Summer Producer

The Summer Producer will be responsible for researching and developing new programs for NUTV.  The candidate will create and help to vet thorough pitches of various segments and seek feedback on the ideas to further their development.  Once ideas are chosen, the Summer Producer will be responsible for creating a segment pilot, as well as developing a guide for students who will take over the helm of production in the fall.

Summer Editor

June 16 – August 22
$21 per hour/28 hours per week

 

The Summer Editor will be responsible for editing new and existing programs for NUTV using the Adobe Creative Suite working under the mentorship and guidance of our Technical Director. They will also be responsible for captioning new and existing NUTV programs and providing graphic design assets if the productions require them.

NUTV Student Screenplay Contest 2025

This summer, NUTV encourages all post-secondary students living in Alberta to enter the 2025 NUTV Student Screenplay Contest! You will be assigned a genre, prop and line of dialogue to include in your screenplay and all writing must occur during the allotted period! There will be a $500 cash prize for Audience Choice and a $1000 cash prize for the Jury Award. The top 5 screenplays will be produced by NUTV as short read-through videos with local actors and will be shared online to determine the audience choice award winner.

How to Enter

To enter, please register using the following link and more information will be sent to you at the start of the contest. Once you have a completed script, send your final copy to scripts@nutv.ca before the submission deadline.

Rules and Requirements

·       Applicant must be a post-secondary student in Alberta

·       Submitted screenplays must be no longer that 10 pages long and should follow standard screenplay format

·       You will own all rights to your screenplay but by entering give permission to NUTV to record your screenplay as a video read-through if you are selected for the Top 5

·       Only the Top 5 screenplays will be eligible for the audience choice and jury awards

·       All writing must take place in the allotted time and must include your assigned genre, prop and line of dialogue

Registration deadline: Sunday, June 1st
Prompts sent: Monday, June 2
Screenplay submission deadline: Friday, July 11
Top 5 decisions: Monday, July 21
Online voting for audience choice: August 18-29
Winners announced: Monday, September 1
