About

history

NUTV is the University of Calgary’s campus based television station. Started as a club way back in ’84 we became a society in ’91 and are graciously funded by a student levy. We’ve produced a variety of community television shows over the years, winning various awards, and are currently releasing new content on our YouTube channel every Friday!

mission

NUTV explores media arts through learning, creativity and fun, capturing stories for the campus community. Learn, Create, Share!

values

Learning: NUTV fosters the development of industry standard media and related skills in its members, which can be applied to their education or careers. People: NUTV members form a strong team where everyone feels respected and has the opportunity to participate in all aspects of media production. Killer Content: NUTV’s programming intends to capture the hearts, minds and imaginations of the students of the UofC.

weekly productions

We want the community involved in NUTV! Volunteer with us to get hand on experience on our weekly productions. Start as a Production Assistant and work your way up to being a Camera Operator, or even a Director! Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at create@nutv.ca to get started!

workshops

Every semester we aim to have something of interest for everyone. We offer basic sound, camera, editing workshops, as well as writing, producing, and social media with industry professionals. If you have been previously trained, we also have advanced workshops available.

equipment

We have a great studio space equipped with everything we need to bring a story to life. Studio lighting, tri-caster, sound boards, a variety of microphones and three HD cameras allow us to create content whenever and wherever we want.

nutv student film festival

The NUTV Student Film Festival is held annually by NUTV. We seek to encourage young filmmakers from around Alberta by promoting their talent! The film festival showcases Alberta’s best student films, including short films created by students during the NUTV Summer Film School Program.

screens

NUTV has its own closed circuit television network in the heart of the University of Calgary Campus in MacEwan Student Centre. We play our own content and also strive to provide useful information to students! Student Clubs get two free ads a semester. If you want to advertise to students find more information here!

archive

Since we’ve been around for a few decades we have a lot of interesting footage! We are proud to have a window into campus life since 1984. Better yet our entire collection is digitized and we are able to search our database for content. Are you looking for footage or just interested in this piece of history? Get in touch, we’ll see what we can do!
